This course was an experiment in which I tried guide beginning students to learn and practise some fundamental aspects of piano playing without the need to learn to read music notation. I can't say that I fully endorse this course any more. There are certain aspects of it that I think people have found confusing, and the progression of difficulty is probably not as well suited to a beginner as I would have liked. However, I have decided to keep it available for now on the off chance that someone finds it interesting of finds some value in it.
In Lesson 8, for the first time, you will play the main melody. In this piece you will play on the white keys. Here your part is a single melody but you will likely find it easier to play if you split the melody between both hands. You can see how I have done this in the video for this lesson. The music is for Drum Set, Upright Bass, and Piano.
Step 1. First, listen to the lesson music.
Step 2. Then listen to the melody you will play.
Step 3. And play the melody along with the percussion accompaniment.
Step 4. Now listen to the melody accompanied only by the drum set.
Step 5. Then play the melody along with the drum set accompaniment.
Step 6. Next, listen to the melody accompanied by the drum set and piano.
Step 7. Then play along with the drum set and piano accompaniment.
Step 8. The last step is to add the upright bass and play along with the full version of the lesson music.
