From the Introduction

"The music for Sanpo Melodies was composed during the coronavirus pandemic. A time when, for many of us, the safest and kindest thing to do was to stay at home. Those of us fortunate enough to escape the virus had then to contend with feelings of restriction and isolation. To be outside, to move and travel freely, this is something we all longed for. But it was something we could not have without risking the lives of our loved ones and our communities.

And so the idea for Sanpo Melodies was born. The word “sanpo” in Japanese means “walk” or “stroll”. The music and art in this collection represents an imaginary journey, a stroll through the seasons. After all, the mind can safely travel anywhere at anytime, even if we ourselves cannot."

"Art is free. Anything that you can imagine can be created on a piece of paper. In art we can travel to any place and any time. Since we are unable to travel during the pandemic, I hope you will enjoy this imaginary journey of art and music."

"Sanpo Melodiesの音楽は、新型ウイルスの影響でパンデミックになった期間中に作曲されました。 私達は多くの時間帯をステイホームという形で健康と安全を維持する事になり、ウイルスから逃れる事が出来ましたが、制限 と孤立感と戦わなければならない生活になりました。そして、人との接触が、愛する人や地域社会の命を危険さ らす事の現実を知りました。しかし、再び外に出て自由に移動したり旅行をしたりする事を切望しています。
