More Information
The Preparatory Book of the Scales, Chords, & Arpeggios course prepares absolute beginner students for Level One of the course. In this stage students begin by learning the individual note names and where to find them on the keyboard. First they learn the seven natural notes, then the seven flat notes, then the seven sharp notes. From there, students add a note on top of the notes they have now learnt to make the perfect 5ths. Once all the perfect 5th have been learnt, students add a note to the middle of the 5ths to make the major and minor triads. Finally, students fill in the gaps in the triads to make the first five notes of all major and minor scales.
This stage of the course will take about 15 weeks to complete, after which the student will know and be able to play all major and minor triads in root position and know the first five notes of all major and minor scales. There are no prerequisites for this course, not even the ability to read music notation. The 39 page PDF includes detailed instructions and a daily practise plan. The PDF also allows teachers to keep track of student’s practise and progress through the course. Click here for more information and to watch the video introduction to the course.
